Ponds & Water Features

Pondless Waterfalls

Are you interested in installing a water feature in your yard, but concerned about the safety and liabilities of having a pond? Or are you apprehensive about taking on responsibility of maintaining a full-fledged ecosystem? Well, we have the answer for you. The Pondless Waterfall is basically that – a waterfall and stream, without the pond.

Great alternative for a front yard pond; fits in small spaces where a pond might be crowded

Perfect for public settings (ex: building entrances, children’s gardens,  etc.) where the liabilities of a pond are a concern

Virtually maintenance-free! Simply refill the reservoir every few weeks to compensate for water loss due to evaporation

Energy efficient – no ecological need to run the system continuously

Set a timer – ideal for vacations and night/day settings

No ecosystem to worry about (fish, etc.)

The Beauty of Pondless® Waterfalls

Waterfalls are perhaps the most beautiful features in a water garden. People can argue that they love fish the most, or that the gorgeous water lilies are their favorites, but the waterfall is what really makes it special. Not only is it beautiful, but it also serves a valuable purpose in your ecosystem by aerating the water for your fish and holding the beneficial bacteria that keeps your pond algae-free. But could a waterfall survive without a pond? Sure it can. And the concept of a waterfall minus the pond is called The Pondless® Waterfall.

Simple Enough

The name basically explains it all. It's a waterfall and stream, without the pond. But why would you want a waterfall without a pond? The truth is that a Pondless® Waterfall isn't for everyone, but it can be a great alternative for someone who isn't quite sure about getting a full-fledged pond.
Some people are a little gun-shy when it comes to ponds because of mosquitoes. And although ponds that contain biological and mechanical filters are constantly being re-circulated, discouraging mosquitoes, the threat of West Nile is still very scary.
Standing water can also be scary for people with young children. We all know how fast children move, and the thought of having a pond so close to their play areas discourages some from considering a water garden. Other people feel that taking care of fish would be a little too much of a responsibility and they won't be able to leave their pond for long periods of time, while still others say they do not have enough room for a whole pond.
Cost is also a big factor when it comes to installing a pond. The price of a Pondless® Waterfall will be less because there is not as much labor and less rock used because of the absence of a pond. The Pondless® Waterfall is for all the people that have those concerns, as well as people who are in love with waterfalls.

A Complete System

A Pondless® Waterfall is much like a regular pond but deeper. A hole is dug then lined with rock and gravel, and filled with water. The water is then circulated from beneath the rocks and gravel by a pump that sits on the bottom, protected by a Centipede™ Module. A pipe runs from there up to a BIOFALLS® filter and into an overflowing waterfall, where it falls back into the reservoir.
Since the water level never pools above the level of the rock and gravel fill, it give the appearance of a Pondless® Waterfall. But the greatest part of it all is that all the anxieties you have about ponds go right out the window the minute the waterfall is turned on!

Could It Be This Easy?

Taking care of your Pondless® Waterfall is a snap too, because there is even less maintenance than a pond. You'll only have to refill the reservoir every few weeks to compensate for water loss because of evaporation. Plus, if you want to turn it off when you're heading out for vacation, you can, since there is no ecological need to keep it running.

Future Possibilities

Perhaps the best part of the Pondless® Waterfall is the possibility for the future. It's almost a stepping-stone for people who might be interested in a full-fledged pond later on. Just be sure to leave enough room for a pond to be added later and make sure that the waterfall is facing your viewing area.

Picture This...

It's a beautiful summer day and you are planning on having friends over to barbeque out on your patio. Somehow, setting up the sprinkler to mimic the sound of a natural stream doesn't do it for you. What about that Pondless® Waterfall that you've heard so much about? Why not take the plunge?
Pondless® Waterfall owners are flipping over their newly-installed masterpieces. They're a great fit for a busy lifestyle, kids love it, and they're safe. The Pondless® Waterfall has made many water-lovers, who were previously unable to indulge in the sweet sounds of falling water, very happy. It's a great alternative for those who are trying to get their feet wet, or looking to fit a little bit of paradise into their own backyard. In other words, when all else fails ... go pondless!
